About the Swim

On Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, join us for the fourth annual David's Old Silver Swim along our one-mile or half-mile course starting and finishing at the spectacular Sea Crest Beach Hotel!

Proceeds will benefit Compassionate Care ALS, a nonprofit organization that models compassion to individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

TIME/LOCATION: Starting-line and finish chute at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel. Check-in from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. on the Sea Crest beach, pre-swim safety meeting at 9:15 a.m., event starts at 9:30 a.m. Silent auction bidding from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. Post-swim celebration and awards at 11:15 a.m.

*Bagels from Cape Cod Bagel and fruit from Jack in The Bean Stalk will be provided.
** Bathrooms are located either on the public beach or in the indoor pool area of the Sea Crest Beach Hotel


ELIGIBILITY: Participants under 18 must have parent/guardian consent; participants under age 8 must register with an adult swim-buddy.

COURSE: Out and back along the shore (0.5- or 1-mile) marked with buoys. Stay closer to the shore to be able to stand or walk at all times or move farther out.

FEE: $35 online registration before noon on August 7th. First 200 registrants receive swim caps & gift bags! $45 day-of registration.

TIMING: Participants will receive a timing tag for electronic timing by RaceWire.

POST-SWIM CELEBRATION: A ceremony will be held at 11:15 a.m. at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel. Awards to be announced. Be sure to check out the Sea Crest Beach Hotel dining options for lunch!

REFUNDS: We are not able to offer refunds for those who register but cannot participate but we may be able to offer transfer to another person. Contact the Race Directors for more information. In the unfortunate event of severe weather, the swim may require a late start or a cancellation. Refunds are not possible, although we will compensate registrants with 2014 registration waivers. Fingers crossed for good weather!

VOLUNTEERS: We need volunteers for a variety of posts including: lifeguards and in-water safety volunteers on surfboards and in kayaks, medical tent personnel, specialized (legal, marketing, etc.) or general volunteers needed before and on the day of the event!
